SATURDAY September 6 will see Bedar transformed as the sixth annual Hippies street party takes place in the town.
Due to the success of previous years, this year looks set to be the biggest ever as people head to Bar Restaurant El Cortijo in fancy dress to enjoy a disco followed by live music from Pamela Lund with Marcelo and Colores Libres.
Entrance is free although any donations are gratefully accepted to help with the costs of this popular event.
There will be a photo shoot on the crossing for the ‘Beatle lookalikes’. Last year there were queues of people wanting to have their photo taken in the famous pose. There is also a name the dog competition, one of the most popular events last year. Hippie wear is not essential, but strongly encouraged. If you can’t find a pair of old flares or flowery clothing lurking in the back of the wardrobe, then the organisers ask that you wear something that has a flower on it, preferably a sunflower which is this year’s theme.
Coaches are available from Mojacar at the low cost of €5 return. For further information contact Siobhan on 697 302 129.
