Natural corn syrup could be very bad for your health

CORN syrup is high in fructose and one of those ingredients which is slowly creeping into almost everything on the supermarket shelves which is making it very difficult to avoid but, for health reasons, it really must be avoided.

Corn syrup is marketed as a natural ingredient, which it is, and this leads people to believe it has no health hazards when, in reality, it is much worse for humans than the sugar which it is replacing.

In a study published in 2013 researchers concluded that countries which had allowed this syrup to be used freely in all products had a higher incidence of diabetes (around 20 per cent more) than countries which controlled its availability.

In another study six out of 10 animals which were fed on corn syrup developed liver cancer within the first few months of eating it.

The same study showed that a diet which was high in corn syrup would produce oxidisation, inflammation, metabolic changes and DNA damage. It really must be avoided.
