Commuters were set back in their journeys this morning when a van came into difficulties on the A387 just beyond the Higueron junction.
The van having passed the junction started to omit smoke from the engine block causing thick heavy smoke to surround the vehicle and cover the carriageways in both directions.
Passing traffic almost coming to a virtual standstill to prevent accidents whilst the smoke lifted, allowed time to capture images of the distressed vehicle and driver.
The Guardia Civil and an ambulance were in attendance when the images were captured by a passing motorist, it is not known if the fire department attended the scene.
Only minutes after the van being photographed in what looked to be a serious incident, a second passing motorist captured further photographs with the smoke having lifted from the immediate area revealing the driver of the van safe and speaking with police officers.
The cause of the incident is not known and there are believed to have been no casualties.
