Spanish Cocaine Shipment caught in Vigo

A SPANISH sailboat carrying 800 kilos of cocaine has been seized in Vigo by the Guardia Civil.

The raid took place in international waters as the vessel was being towed into Vigo. It is believed that the shipment was transferred onto the vessel at high sea in line with standard drug ring procedure.

Two men, one of whom was Galician and one woman were arrested as part of an international drug trafficking operation conducted by the Spanish High Court in Madrid.

It is not yet known where the final destination of the cargo was heading, but it is believed that Galicia was to be the first stop for the merchandise.  Vigo appears to be a popular port in Spain for drug smuggling, with a long line of drug seizures carried out each year.

The 16 metre sailing boat called Pandora Lys,whichis usually moored in Valencia, was regularly chartered out as a cruise ship for up to eight passengers.
