THE number of unemployed in the region of Murcia has risen in August by 2,710 people, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Unemployment and Social Security (Ministerio de Empleo y Seguridad Social).
The figures show the rise of registered unemployed persons in the National Unemployment offices (Instituto Nacional de Empleo) now totals 141,811 people. A percentage increase compared to July of 1.95 per cent.
Although, there is an increase in the August listing, yearly figures show a general decrease in unemployment around the Murcia area by 6.18 per cent. The third least decrease within the Spanish communities.
In relation to sectors of the market, the total of men registered as unemployed stands at 66,851 compared to 74,960 women currently unemployed.
Foreigners registered as unemployed in the Murcia area currently stands at 14,974, 3,819 of which belong to the European Union. These latest figures show a decrease in unemployment from last year’s figures of 1,445 people.
