VERANO AZUL: Shot in Nerja.
NERJA Council has passed a unanimous motion to honour the producers of Spanish TV series, Verano Azul.
Originally aired by TVE in the 1980s and rerun in 2014, Verano Azul (Blue Summer) was shot in Nerja and tells the story of a group of youngsters aged between nine and 17, who have a series of thrilling adventures while on holiday on Costa del Sol. It was later broadcast in Latin America, Portugal, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and in the former Czechoslovakia.
Nerja authorities have now decided to pay tribute to Carlos Martinez Ramos, Juan Jose Sanchez Villa and Antonio Pozueco Perez, some of the producers and directors of the Spanish TV series.
Ever since Verano Azul was shot 35 years ago, they have never stopped visiting Nerja and promoting the municipality.
Now they are to be named Tourists of Honour on September 12 and some of the original actors are expected to attend the official ceremony.
