BREAKING NEWS: William and Kate are expecting their second child.
The news broke via social media sites earlier this morning that the couple is now expecting a little brother or sister for one-year-old Prince George, who celebrated his first birthday last July.
The palace released a statement which said: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child.
“The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.
“As with her first pregnancy, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.”
Hyperemesis Gravidarum is more commonly known as morning sickness, a condition which Kate suffered severely from during her first pregnancy and which led to her being hospitalised.
Prime Minister David Cameron also released a statement after the announcement went public.
He said: “Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
“I’m delighted by the happy news that they’re expecting another baby.”
Due to her condition, The Duchess will not be joining her husband on a royal visit to Oxford which was planned for Monday.
The couple’s second child will be fourth in line to the throne, pushing Prince Harry back to fifth in succession.
