THE Society for land reform (TROPS), considered the largest trader of tropical fruit, avocados and mangos is investing €2 million to improve and expand its installations in El Trapiche.
The project which started in July, and is expected to be finished by late 2015, includes a service station, a multi-purpose hall, a restaurant and an agricultural gourmet shop.
The society which currently offers services to its 1,900 members, will expand on top of the 14,000 sq. metres already built.
The agricultural cooperative which commercialises Spain’s homegrown crops such as mangos and avocados, is hoping to increase the commercialisation this year to 20,000 tons of fruit. Three times more than last year and five times more than 2012 figure of 4,000 tons.
Agricultural land in Malaga invoiced €12 million in the last season, due to the high growth of mangos in the region, which will soon overtake avocado production.
