A FIRE in Xàbia and Dénia has burnt through the Montgó Natural Park and forced evacuations.
The fire is believed to have originated at around 4pm in Molins on Cape San Antonio in the Natural Park along the coast between Xàbia and Dénia, but has since spread and there are reports of houses surrounded by fire.
Residents in Lloma del Castanyar and Torre del Gerro have been evacuated from their houses as a preventative measure and are temporarily being housed in the Joan Fuster pavilion.
Local Police have stopped traffic along the Las Planas motorway. Firefighters along with police and Guardia Civil officers are in attendance. There are also six firefighting aircraft battling the blaze.
