FACUA Consumers in Action has released a report to show that a governmental regulatory change that occurred this year will not lead to tariff cuts, but gives complete freedom to the sector to implement massive increases.
Looking at the month of August, the average user already pays 1.4 per cent more than in August 2013. Using the applied rates for August, a monthly consumption of 366kWh with a contracted capacity of 4.4kW will cost €75.87 (taxes included).
Users with lower levels of consumption will experience the highest price hike, given the increase that the government has approved for the basic fee for contracted power. A user with a power of 4.4kW and a consumption of 250 kWh will pay 3 per cent more in August rates compared to the same month in 2013.
