Meet the team at Marbella Beauty Academy

THE TEAM: Jane, Giselle, Alex and Liza

MARBELLA BEAUTY ACADEMY is the Costa del Sol’s leading academy offering internationally recognised CIBTAC (Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology) qualifications.

Any academy is only as good as its staff, and that is where the Marbella Beauty Academy shines. It maintains consistently high standards, providing students with experienced teachers and outstanding examination success. Students finish their course ‘salon ready’, for their dream job.

Giselle Beck-Davies, the academy’s director, has been in the beauty business for more than 30 years, having trained at the world-famous Champney’s College in Tring. She worked as Spa Manager at The Metropole Hotel and then went on to open several of her own salons before training as a teacher and assessor, and being invited to teach in Further Education and then private colleges.

Seeing the need for high standards on the coast, she gained accreditation from CIBTAC, The British Association of Beauty Therapists and Cosmetologists own examining board, which is the preferred qualification in the Beauty Industry Internationally.

Jane O’Brien is Head Tutor. She has over 20 years’ experience, having trained at Doncaster College before working for four years as a Beauty Therapist at Centre Parks in Sherwood Forest. She then became Assistant Manager of a Spa which was voted Best Health Spa by Good House Keeping Magazine two years in a row.

Liza Mayne is a well-known professional International Make-up Artist on the coast, involved in editorials, fashion, beauty, and bridal make-up. Liza completed her studies at the London School of Beauty & Make-up and then further developed her fashion skills at the London College of Fashion.

Alex Ainsworth joined the team to run the professional hairdressing courses. Alex trained with Toni & Guy in St Christopher’s Place, London, and over the last 14 years has worked as Head Colour Technician and Trainer for Toni & Guy in Exeter, Marbella and Puerto Banus.

Faye Kilcourse studied at the London College of fashion, achieving a degree in make-up. Faye has a unique way of bringing out the creativity in all of her students; it is so fulfilling to see those students that doubt themselves, suddenly bursting with lots of exciting ideas.

After achieving their International qualifications, students move on to work in some wonderful jobs all over the world, including beauty treatments for first-class passengers on airlines and cruise ships – with students guaranteed an interview with Steiner Recruitment to work on Royal Caribbean ships – health farms, hotels, hospitals, ski resorts and many more.
