THE DOWAGER Duchess of Devonshire, Deborah Vivien Cavendish, has died at the age of 94, Chatsworth House has announced.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Duchess’s son, a spokeswoman for Chatsworth House said: “It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Deborah, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, has passed away peacefully this morning.”
Deborah Cavendish was the last of the famous Mitford sisters. Leading the glamorous lifestyle associated with the privileged upper-classes, the sisters were known for being close to such famous historical figures as Winston Churchill, John F Kennedy, Evelyn Waugh and Adolf Hitler.
