Rincón de la Victoria is to declare solidarity with those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
The idea behind the initiative is to face up to the problems confronted every day by the 300 locals who suffer from the disease.
Francisco Salado, mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, said the town wishes to serve as an example to other communities, and to help raise awareness of the social and medical challenges that Alzheimer’s disease brings to society.
The proposal is to coincide with events planned by the town’s Alzheimer’s association, Asalbez, organised to commemorate World Alzheimer’s Day, which took place last Sunday, September 21.
The town council has discussed in detail many different aspects of this debilitating illness, and discussed the best ways for both Alzheimer’s patients and their care-givers to confront and overcome these problems.
