A MENTALLY-DISABLED man could serve up to six years in prison for homicide.
The defendant stands accused of killing another man with mental disabilities in March 2013 in Velez Malaga. If found guilty, he could be jailed for six years, spend six years in a mental health facility and pay the victim’s family €10,000 in compensation.
At the time of the crime, both the defendant and the victim were living at a special home for the mentally-disabled. A row broke out between them and the accused assaulted the victim, who suffered from Down’s syndrome. He died the following day as a result of his injuries.
The trial started on Monday September 22.
