A toast to health at Yamas Greek Fusion Restaurant

WHEN Yamas Greek Fusion opened its doors in Marbella earlier this year, the owners could not have imagined how quickly it would turn into an amazing success.

Owners Kulis and Hayley had been running a beach restaurant in Marbella for the last four years. Every Wednesday they ran a Greek night which was a huge success and being Greek himself and a chef, they decided it was time to expand and buy their own premises, and Yamas was born.

For their new venture, they brought their previous chefs and some staff with them and created a team that has grown to its current 14 members. With its ample choice of dishes, from classic Greek to Asian Fusion to tapas for sharing, Yamas is already a favourite on the Marbella scene for tapas, lunch, dinner, private parties, and cocktails in the wine bar!

“We have a big menu and a large selection of international wines to satisfy our largely international clientele,” Hayley Mallia said. “However, there are already a few ‘star dishes’ such as our home-made moussaka, the beautifully-presented rack of lamb and the ‘Asian fusion’ tapas. The mixed meze plate is another favourite where clients can sample many tasty classics, such as humous, taramas, melitzanosalata, pan fried feta cheese, stuffed vine leaves, and sweet baby bell peppers, and much more.

The dessert list is full of Greek puddings and delights, with the famous Baklawa Greek filo pastry and the delicious Kataifi top of clients’ desired choice.

But the real treat comes after dinner on the last Saturday of each month, when a larger-thanlife Greek party goes into fullswing with Greek belly dancer and traditional plate smashing to the delight of clients. “This is a very popular evening and gets booked well in advance, it is great fun for every-one, we also have live music every Saturday night.

When asked about the restaurant ambience and décor, Hayley said: “Our three outdoor seating areas have been a real hit this summer. Clients can chose from the upper terrace, the patio and the street terrace on warm nights. But the winter will lend itself to a cosy, intimate experience with candlelit tables spread over three floors.
