Beach polo in Tarifa

THE first edition of the Tarifa International Beach Polo Championships 2014 took place at Playa de Los Lances, Tarifa, organised by Polo4Ever.

The winning team consisted of players Andrew Nulty, César Miño and Diogo Gallego, under the name of McLaren/Guarnieri.

They played the match against three other opponents also grouped under the banner of sponsors: Crédit Suisse, Scapa and Sunseeker.

The final match was an extremely close call against rival team Credit Suisse, with the final score ending at 8-7.

The award for ‘Most Valued Player’ of the tournament was Andrew Nulty for being the top scorer with 10 goals, who received a watch from Gomez & Molina Jewellers.

The winners were honoured to lift the cup for the first ever edition of Beach Polo in Tarifa, however, all participants received gifts donated by sponsors.

Attendance at both of the sporting events “has been a success,” declared one of the event’s organisers, Isabel de Borbón; while stating: “after the great reception received from the public, media and local authorities, we cannot wait to begin preparation for the second edition of the Tarifa Beach Polo Championships.
