POLICE in Murcia are clamping down on perpetrators of domestic violence, with two arrests made over the weekend.
According to La Verdad, Murcia’s Local Police investigated two separate incidents of domestic violence in the capital over the weekend, resulting in the arrest of two men. The arrests were made in the neighbourhoods of Los Martínez del Puerto and in Llano de Brujas.
A 48-year-old Moroccan man was arrested on the morning of Saturday October 4 on suspicion of assaulting his wife, who claims that this is not the first time abuse has occurred.
His wife was taken to the local health centre in Corvera, where she was treated for head and neck injuries sustained during the assault.
During the evening on that same day, a 45-year-old Spanish man was arrested after he threatened to kill both his wife and another, unidentified person.
Police officers detained the suspect in the street, where he was found to be in possession of a large knife.
The two men have been detained in separate Guardia Civil headquarters.
