SPANISH Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy visited Hospital Carlos III on Friday (October 10), where Spanish nurse Teresa Romero remains hospitalised.
Rajoy was accompanied by Head of the Madrid Regional Government Ignacio Gonzalez. They arrived shortly before 1.30pm.
During their visit, they met the medical team that has treated Romero and 13 other patients being kept under observation. Following his visit, the President talked to the almost 100 journalists that gathered outside the hospital, but did not answer any questions.
As stated by Rajoy, the investigation into what may have happened and to determine what can be improved is still ongoing. “Both the European Commission (EC) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) have informed that the risk of the disease spreading in the future is very low. This is not a message of the Government, but of the EC and the WHO,” remarked Rajoy to calm the general public.
The first objective in the fight against Ebola in Spain is Teresa Romero, who is the only Ebola case that we know of, said Rajoy, adding that the next objective is to keep an eye on the condition of the other patients under observation.
