After 10 years of cocky contestants, challenging tasks and several firings, Lord Alan Sugar is back searching for another business partner to invest in and this time it’s bigger than ever. Over the years we have seen sets of 16 contestants but this year will prove to be even tougher, with 20 of the UK’s best business minds battling it out against each other for a 50/50 partnership with Lord Sugar.

In the build- up to series 10 Lord Sugar also filmed a 10-year anniversary special shown on Monday 13 which brought back previous contestants including the queen of controversy Katie Hopkins (season 3), the infamous Stuart Baggs “The Brand” (season 6), who caused a lot of commotion with the other contestants, and like a lot of Lord Sugar’s candidates, got put in his place by Claude Littner at the interviewing stage. And the sales machine that was Ruth Badger (season 2). We were also shown some of the best, and the worst, products designed and pitched by the candidates. Hopefully this season nobody creates any ‘tidy sideys’ or as Lord Sugar would describe it, a ‘wishy washy, poxy boxy’.

Although in the past we have been amused by the candidates claiming their “first word was not mummy, it was money” and that they are the “reflection of perfection” previous candidates don’t even compare to the remarks made this season with the most confident candidates yet. Social worker Steven believes if he went to Mars he would  “find a way to be excellent.” Bianca, a business owner, wishes she had become a scientist for no reason other than she wants to clone herself. And Sanjay, a bank manager, believes that if he walked past 10 people in the street he would be better looking than at least nine of them.

The show is airing in two hour-long episodes this week and the first episode premieres tonight, Tuesday 14. The first episode sees the candidates selling 10 years worth of products from fruit and veg to flowers. They are hitting Leadenhall Market to try and make as much profit as possible.  The second episode will air on Wednesday 15 and every Wednesday after that. Last year the glamorous and extremely intelligent Dr Leah took the top spot which is a tough act to follow. So who will take the top spot? And who will hear the words “You’re Fired?”
