HOME furnishings giant Ikea has donated more money to the fight against Ebola than Spain. According to the United Nations, Spain, Norway and Luxembourg have between them donated just €3.2 million to help fight the spread of the killer disease.
In contrast, Swedish furniture company Ikea has donated €5.3 million. British Prime Minister David Cameron has written to 27 European leaders urging them to “step up” their donations. The Labour Party has demanded that countries not meeting their responsibilities be named. The UK has already donated €157 million to help fight Ebola, which has so far killed more than 4,500 people, mainly in West Africa.
The news about Spain’s lacklustre donations comes as Spanish nurse Teresa Romero tests negative for Ebola for the first time.
