Isabel Pantoja pays €100,000 and pleads to stay out of prison

The lawyers representing Isabel Pantoja have paid the judge €100,000 and urged the court to stop her imminent entry into prison, and hand out a suspended sentence instead.

The singer’s representatives turned up in the court to pay the money and discuss a payment plan where she can pay five amounts of €200,000 over an agreed period of time.

The 58-year-old singer, is currently sat waiting in Madrid while the court deliberates whether she will still have to go to jail.

The ex-girlfriend of the disgraced mayor had managed to acquire €300,000, of which she gave the court €100,000 and will hand over the next €200,000 when the payment is due.

The lawyers have told the judge that they are negotiating with the tax authorities to remove the embargo from her house Los Morales and the proceeds of the sale will be lodged with the courts.

The singer was accused of being the co-conspirator of her former boyfriend, ex-mayor of the Marbella Town Hall, Julian Muñoz. He was sentenced in the same court case to six-and-a-half years in jail for money laundering and bribery.

According to her close friends Isabel denies any collaboration with Muñoz to launder money and had always stated that she had her own income from singing and personal appearances.
