WORK to repair the access to Garrucha port is well underway now in a project that has a total budget of €7.4 million.
Work to widen the access to the port is currently at 53 per cent completion with the remaining work estimated at 10 months. The entire surface of the road has been dug up and will be resurfaced, strengthening it for increased usage. A tunnel is being built for the heavy industrial vehicles. The new tunnel will have a length of 254 metres with a 30 metre recess. It will cross under the new roundabout by the promenade and link the northern area of the port with the A-1207.
On the surface the boulevard is being reconstructed for other traffic, separated from pedestrians with guard-rails and a landscaped area. Additional work on the port’s entrance includes two roundabouts, one located in the area of the current overpass and the other near the promenade.
