A83 Rest and Be Thankful
THE west Highlands of Scotland have been battered this morning as a band of heavy weather moved across the country causing torrential downpours and landslides.
Commuter’s using the Ullapool to Inverness road have had to wait several hours or opt for major diversions due to landslides blocking the road at Garve. The infamous ‘Rest and Be Thankful’ road in Argyll and Bute has also been hit with yet another landslide leaving commuters with a 100 mile detour. Emergency teams are dealing with both areas.
The A82 near Fort William has just reopened this morning due to two landslides that blocked the road, and according to BBC News kept 50 people waiting for 5 hours – lets hope they had in car entertainment.
The rain is expected to clear hopefully by this evening, but Police Scotland are still urging those travelling in the affected areas to be vigilant and aware that expected journey times may take much longer due to road diversions still in place
