Watergardens Gibraltar.
PLANS have been announced to construct 1,500 new homes in Gibraltar.
The extra housing will add to the nearly 900 new homes currently under construction at Mons Calpe Mews and Beach View Terraces. Two new housing projects – 500 flats near Watergardens and 1,000 flats in Eastside – will provide further affordable housing for the people of Gibraltar.
The news comes as the government completes the allocation process for the sale of affordable housing currently under construction at Mons Calpe Mews and Beach View Terraces. People who were on the housing waiting list when the current government took office in 2011 were given priority during the allocation process for the homes at the two locations.
“It was a flagship policy in the manifesto that got us elected and it is a commitment on which the Government has delivered with Mons Calpe Mews, Beach View Terraces and Charles Buzon House already under construction,” said Chief Minister Fabian Picardo.
“We intend to continue the supply of homes so that everyone eligible who wants one of these flats is able to obtain one.”
