Burglary gang broken up

THE Guardia Civil broke up a gang of burglars who targeted storage rooms in Mijas and Fuengirola buildings.

Three young men aged between 18 and 22 were detained and are now facing theft charges. The police also pressed charges against two other individuals for reportedly concealing the stolen goods.

The investigation that led to their arrest started when the police learned a man in Torremolinos was selling stolen goods. The officers later identified the gang behind the wave of thefts, which included three young Mijas residents.

They would reportedly pick a building, force open the storage room doors, steal the goods and then hide them in a safe house. It appears they preferred items that could be easily sold on the black market, such as bicycles, tools or fishing gear.
