MIJAS: tender loving care for traditional New Years clock
A SPECIALIST clockmaker is checking and repairing the clock in the tower on Plaza de la Libertad in Mijas in preparation for New Years Eve.
Public streets councillor Juan Carlos Gonzalez explained that the clock is more than 100 years old and requires tender loving care to ensure it is in full working order to enable Mijas people to eat their grapes in time with the clock following local tradition.
Gonzalez said that although every effort will be made to ensure the clock works perfectly, a digital clock will be placed next to it just in case.
