More help for La Plana clear-up

LA PLANA: Felling burnt pines

COSTA BLANCA NORTH: Javea is combining a government employment scheme with woodland clearance in La Plana.

The fire that consumed 444 hectares of the Montgo national park in September originated in this area although, as reported recently in the Euro Weekly News, it has been impossible to ascertain the causes of the fire.

The local and regional authorities are now working to remove dead trees and clear the woodland area. To help complete the task, Javea town hall will provide three-months’ employment for five workers thanks to an €18,000 subsidy from the government.

The Valencian Community’s official employment centre SERVEF is now preselecting candidates. They will later be interviewed at the town hall and should be working before the end of the year, continuing the work carried out in the last six months by the “social brigades.” They too are employed by the town hall and have been working in La Plana since October, helping to restore the area after the devastating September fire.
