ESPERANZA OÑA: received the highest distinction at a ceremony this week
COSTA DEL SOL: Ex-mayor Esperañza Oña was awarded the Red Cross for Police Merit by Fuengirola Local Police force.
The highest distinction awarded by the police force was presented to Oña for her work to modernise, equip and promote the local service during her 24 years as mayor.
New Mayor Ana Mula declared during the ceremony at Fuengirola Town Hall, attended by representatives of police forces from Malaga, Cordoba, Valencia and Madrid, that the award followed a unanimous initiative supported by policemen, trade unions and political parties.
Mula also announced that the ex-mayor will be named adoptive daughter of the town.
