SANTA CLAUS and his elves teamed up with the mayor of Huercal Overa and visited schools in the municipality.
Mayor of the town Domingo Fernandez, delivered Christmas cards alongside Santa in a visit that enthralled the children while taking the opportunity to promote local merchants. “We are aware that the Christmas season holds important benefits for our merchants. Just like last year, we are delivering the cards to our children with the hope that purchasers will remain local,” said the mayor.
The children were very excited to receive a visit from Santa and his helpers, They were able to give their Christmas lists to Santa and had some fun singing Christmas carols. The first to receive visits were CEIP Virgen del Rio and CEIP Principe Felipe, before the visiting troupe moved to the other schools in the area.
The town has also distributed posters across the town with the slogan, “This Christmas I’ll buy in Huercal Overa.” The two activities form part of an initiative consisting of 40 activities based on and around the Christmas season. The activities have been planned to get people out of their homes and into the communal town areas.
