ITALIAN EATERY: With regularly changing specials.
MOST of us enjoy Italian food. The blend of fresh pasta, fresh vegetables prepared from the heart and a love of good food make the cuisine one of the most popular in the world.
That heart is very apparent in Ottocento on Paseo del Mediterraneo in Mojacar. This popular Italian eatery opened in May 2010 under the guiding hands of Marco who hails from Dolomites in Italy. Marco, a fully trained chef, takes his craft very seriously and his drive and enthusiasm is never more apparent than when he speaks about the food at Ottocento. Marco is a familiar face in Mojacar and has a firm, loyal following.
It is his welcoming and friendly attitude towards his customers, as well as the attention to detail on his dishes that has people clamouring for more.
Of particular note is the pasta which is prepared freshly every day. There are also regular changes to the specials menu every couple of days, which always features three pasta dishes, one vegetarian, one fish and one meat. On the day that Euro Weekly News visited, the specials board featured tuna carpaccio, pasta with pesto and artichokes, and spaghetti with cod and broccoli. Ottocento’s menu includes lamb, steak and pork among its very popular Mediterranean dishes.
The fresh pastas are available with a variety of sauces, ensuring that there is something for every palate, guaranteed to be full of flavour and beautifully cooked.
Of course, every Italian restaurant will have a great range of freshly prepared pizzas and Ottocento is no exception. Everything from a traditional four cheese to a sweet Hawaiian, a hearty calzone to a stunning capriccio, part of a range of flavours that please the entire family. What is a good Italian meal without that final sweet course?
Tiramisu and panna cotta are available as well as a gorgeous chocolate cake.
This is an authentic Italian restaurant, located on the seafront which gives diners phenomenal views of the sea from the spacious terrace. The decor is bright, modern and high quality, much like Marco and his menu.
