Elton John ties the knot

UPDATE: Sir Elton John and David Furnish have married today, December 21, finally adding that last special touch to their relationship of more than 20 years.

The 67-year-old singer took to Instagram to announce the wedding and invite fans to share the special moments they promised to post during the day.

Their sons Zachary and Elijah acted as ring-bearers during the ceremony held at their family home in Windsor, Berkshire, with high-profile guests including the Beckhams and Elizabeth Hurley invited to not only feel but also see the love as Elton and David said their vows.  

Celebrity guests shared a light lunch after the ceremony consisting of wild mushroom soup with truffle cream, followed by beef short rib and caramelised onion pie, warm chocolate pudding and wedding cake, all washed down with Pouilly Fumé Baron de ‘L’ 2009 and Laurent-Perrier Rose wines.

Although the couple held a big party when they entered a civil partnership in 2005 nine years ago to the day, when England legalised same-sex marriages earlier this year Elton explained that they intended to tie the knot as they thought it was a great opportunity to take advantage of the new laws and to celebrate.
