THE president and treasurer of a Sevilla animal charity are suspected of fraud and misappropriation of funds.
SEPRONA, the nature protection arm of the Guardia Civil, had been investigating the charity for a while to find out exactly what happened to large donations made by members of the public.
The charity also held events, competitions and meetings between associations and volunteers to obtain funds. Income over the two-year period the charity worked for is estimated to have been more than €160,000.
Investigations revealed that donations were paid into two bank accounts, one of which was not in the name of the charity; therefore, Seprona suspects that the funds were put to personal use and has accused the leader and treasurer of fraud.
