Two arrested for death of Colmenar bar owner

THE Guardia Civil police have arrested two suspects for the death of a Colmenar buisnessman.

The incident took place on September 27, when the detainees entered the bar, Los Tinajeros, in Colmenar.

The owner, a man of Egyptian origin and Dutch nationality, was shot at close range when he refused to hand over the money he had taken during the day. He died instantly.

An hour and a half before the homicide, the suspects allegedly tried to rob three English citizens in Alcaucin.

The women put up a fight and the thieves shot at one of them, aiming at her face. Fortunately, the bullet passed closely between two of the women’s heads and none of them was injured.

A white car was used by the thieves to escape. The vehicle became the main focus of the investigation, as it was seen at both crime scenes by witnesses, and eventually the occupants were located.

The suspects have been jailed without bail after admitting to having taken part in the incident and they were charged with homicide, attempted homicide, illegal ownership of guns and robbery with intimidation.
