GOALMOUTH SCRAMBLE: Lumbreras draw level.
MAZARRON gained an important 2-1 away win at Lumbreras.
However, they will have to await the outcome of deliberations by the Murcia FA into a major fracas two minutes before the end of the game which led to the referee apparently abandoning the match.
Tempers flared after a bad foul on Mazarron’s Tolo, resulting in a melee between players and Lumbreras supporters. Tolo was eventually helped to the dressing room with badly bruised ribs.
The game had started brightly with both sides vying for control but neither side was able to create any clear-cut chances. The nearest the game came to a goal was when Tolo shot over the bar, and the sides went in scoreless at half-time.
Mazarron started the second half brightly and their persistence paid off when in the 50th minute Tolo struck a free kick that nestled in the bottom corner of the net, the Lumbreras keeper a mere spectator. Five minutes later, Lumbreras drew level when a goalmouth scramble following a mistake by Mazarron keeper Conejo saw the ball forced home for the equaliser.
Mazarron took control again and created more chances and in the 85th minute Monty’s free kick found Manu, who drove the ball into the net to give Mazarron the winner.
Mazarron’s next game is away to Yeclano Deportivo on January 11.
