GOOD START: Sales of holidays to resorts like Puerto Banus are up.
SALES of holiday packages to Andalucia for the summer are already between 12 and 14 per cent higher than the same period last year.
Britons are leading the way in the region with a 17 per cent rise in packages booked by tour operators. Last year visitors from the UK – 2.2 million of them – accounted for 35 per cent of the international tourism market in Andalucia.
The president of the Tourism Council of the Andalucian Confederation of Business Owners (CEA), Miguel Sanchez, said that it was a good indicator that foreign tour operators see Andalucia as good value when it came to price and quality.
He added that the numbers confirmed the positive outlook that had been reported by delegates at the World Travel market in London.
He went on to say that these initial figures did not include online bookings, as these tend to made later in the year.
