CHEMISTS: Among dozens of small businesses targeted in lockdown crime spree.
A MAN who escaped from prison and is suspected of seven robberies in a week in Malaga is behind bars. Police say that the man, described as dangerous, tried to stab one of his arresting officers when they finally caught up with him.
They believe he is behind a series of knife-point robberies in Malaga city centre, including four on chemists, which left shop staff fearful that they may have been the next targets.
In all the robberies the attacker was described as being 35, carrying a large kitchen knife and wearing a hoody and jeans.
Police spotted the suspect and after a chase wrestled him to the ground. The man is said to have put up a fight attempting to stab one of the officers before he was disarmed and subdued.
Police say the arrested man had escaped from Algeciras prison.
