STANBROOK: The British coal ship that evacuated 2,683 Republicans from Alicante.
THE exhibition ‘100 artistas solidarios’ can be seen in Denia until January 31.
More than 140 Spanish artists provided works for the itinerant exhibition organised by Alicante’s Comision Civica for the recovery of Spain’s historic memory.
The 37 pictures chosen for the Denia exhibition also included prints by Spanish cartoonists as well as manuscripts.
The inauguration was attended by Denia’s Culture councillor Pepa Sivera accompanied by Comision Civica members, Paco Moreno and Vicente Carrasco.
The association was created in 2004 “to repair an old injustice, compensate for the manipulation of history, to combat oblivion and pay off a moral debt,” explained Moreno and Carrasco.
