Majority of Malaga voters against bullfighting

MALAGA: Citizens vote on bullfighting.

A referendum on forbidding bullfighting held in Malaga City by the Partido Andalucista political party ended with 71 per cent of voters in favour of a ban.

A total of 9,245 people voted by telephone, online or in person, only 2,655 of which wanted bullfights to continue, the party reported.

Javier Checa, candidate for mayor of Malaga city at the May elections, said: “We’ve taken a step forward against cruelty to animals.”
