BIKE DAY: Last year around 1,000 people took part in Villajoyosa.
VILLAJOYOSA in Costa Blanca North will celebrate ‘Bike Day’ on Sunday.
The Department of Sports and the Xoriguer environmental group has organised the event this weekend as an initiative that combines sport, healthy lifestyles and an environmentally friendly form of transport.
Councillor for Sports and Mobility, Pedro Ramis, said: “The objective of Bike Day is to promote the use of alternative means of transport. This is an initiative that aims to encourage children, adults and families to enjoy biking through the streets comfortably and safely.”
The town has always promoted cycling, having developed a range of trails for cyclists, and work on bike pathways is underway.
Registration to take part can be done in the Llar Pensioner Social Centre from 11am-1pm and from 5-8pm. It is expected to involve about 1,000 people, as in previous editions.
Bike Day was first celebrated in Villajoyosa in 1985.
