MAURA HILLEN, the president of Abusos Urbanisticos Almanzora No (AUAN), has announced her intention to run in the Albox elections in Almeria.
AUAN fights for the rights of homeowners that bought their Spanish properties in good faith, only to become the victims of legislation later with numerous properties being demolished. Maura received unanimous approval from AUAN when she announced her intention.
Hillen said: “Urgent solutions are required and for this reason AUAN is asking for legislative changes and some seem to be in the making. However, whilst AUAN has received declarations of support, some support appears to be lukewarm and uncertain. It is the PSOE party that has shaped concrete changes to the legislation and I would like to dedicate my efforts to these changes.”
Hillen added: The municipality of Albox suffers from this problem in a significant way and it is also where I live. The government team in Albox has worked with AUAN to promote the legislative changes that the PSOE are now putting on the table. I believe that this is where I can contribute my best efforts, at least for now.”
Maura Hillen, who is not a member of the PSOE or any political party, stressed: “I am running as an independent to maintain my freedom to operate, pursuing my primary goal which is the legalisation of the houses.
“I am going on the list in a personal capacity and I want to make it clear that AUAN will continue to be an independent association. I hope and I believe that this route will be beneficial for everyone because now is the hour to set aside words and concentrate on actions.”
