ZARZUELA Palace has announced that King Felipe VI of Spain will travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, today (January 24) to personally offer his respects to King Salman following the death yesterday of King Abudullah.
The Spanish Head of State sent a telegram yesterday expressing sincere condolences on behalf of the royal family, the government and the Spanish people after receiving the news of the death of the 90-year-old king, and will be following up in person today.
King Felipe’s missive reportedly expressed an intention in further improve friendship and cooperation between Spain and Saudi Arabia.
Former King Juan Carlos also sent a similar telegram to King Salman expressing condolences.
