VOLUNTEERS and politicians collected more than eight kilos of dog mess in Malaga City in a campaign to raise awareness amongst dog owners.
The #recogeelmohon (pick up the poop) campaign by the Partido Andalucista party aims to convince dog owners of the need to clean up after their pets in public.
The campaign began the Parque de Huelin area of Malaga as locals had complained about the amount of mess in the area during telephone surveys and is expected to continue in other parts of the city.
Candidate for Malaga mayor, Javier Checa, stated that fining owners that don’t clear up after their pets is not the answer and insisted that they must be taught to ‘pick up the poop!’
