Tobacco haul at Almeria port

OFFICERS from the Guardia Civil have seized 320 cigarette packets in a routine check at Almeria port.

The officers found the cigarettes hidden behind fuses inside the dashboard and inside one of the van’s tyres that was stored in the van’s load area. The stash was discovered during a routine inspection at the port, part of an ongoing initiative to clamp down on illegal smuggling activities. These checks are carried out regularly on people and in vehicles that have arrived from North Africa.

The officers have detained one person for smuggling and confiscated the tobacco.
