A NEW heliport has been built in Coin, Costa del Sol, for use by 061 air ambulance helicopters in emergencies.
The Junta de Andalucia regional government spent €69,951 on the heliport, which has been built on land belonging to Coin Council and has direct access to the A-366 road.
Junta delegate Daniel Perez, Coin mayor Fernando Fernandez and provincial head of 061 emergency services, Maria Auxiliadora Naranjo, inaugurated the heliport, the third of six planned for the province, and stressed that it would help get patients to hospital quicker in emergencies.
