TWO hundred and twenty cruise ships with almost half a million passengers are expected to visit Malaga City this year.
Yet the Malaga-Costa del Sol Cruise Commission has warned Malaga City Council that figures are likely to reduce in the future unless access is improved for disabled and elderly passengers who are unable to walk long distances.
A recent report by Sopde Planning and Development Society gave average spending figures of €60 per passenger and €23 per crew member for visiting cruises, meaning if cruises choose to swap Malaga for cities with better access, substantial income would be lost in the area.
