New help centre for Axarquia drug users

THE construction works for Almuñecar’s Regional Drug Dependence Treatment Centre are already completed.

Mayor of the town, Luisa Garcia Chamorro, together with other council representatives, visited the new facilities, located in the area of La Alcoholera.

Ms Garcia explained that the project was possible thanks to the collaboration of the Regional Health Department, the Provincial Council of Granada and the town’s council, which have come together to offer a better service to the centre’s users and the professionals who work in it.

The project had a budget of €129,643, paid for by the provincial council.

Two psychologists, two doctors and a social worker, amongst other members of staff, will work in the new facility, which will offer services to more than 700 people with addiction problems from across the Costa Tropical.
