Residents stop plans for new mosque in Mallorca

THE Muslim community of Porreres will choose a different location for the construction of a new mosque due to residents’ complaints. 

The new mosque was set to be built in calle Jaume II but neighbours in the area have shown their strong opposition, and held a meeting with the town’s mayor, Francisca Mora, to express it. 

She stated that the site was completely legal and available to be used. However, the Muslim community have decided to change the location to the town’s outskirts.
