Yacht with rich history goes up in flames

CHARLTON HESTON: Former owner of the yacht ‘Notorious.’

THE yacht once owned by a former US president, a movie actor and an alleged mob boss has met a sad end in the United States.

The 78-foot 1953 Feadship motor yacht ‘Notorious’ went up in flames in Huntsville, Alabama, where it was being stored. The boat had to be removed from the water last August as it was taking on water and sinking at Ditto Landing. It was waiting to undergo repairs at the time of the fire. According to WHNT news in the USA, Notorious has a rich history and if boats could talk would surely have many a tale to tell. Former US President Gerald Ford once owned Notorious, as did Hollywood actor Charlton Heston, and WHNT news in America has reported that the boat also belonged to an alleged mob boss in the past. It’s rumoured that the yacht had a secret passage on board.

Authorities are unsure if the fire was started intentionally or if it was accidental.
