MARBELLA street cleaners are now using German machinery to keep pavements even cleaner.
The new machinery requires cleaners to work in pairs, one pushing the pressurized washers while another follows letting out hoses attached to tanker-vehicles.
While the system is slow, it is proving far more efficient that previous ones and is also better for the environment as less chemical products are required.
Yet the council declared that even the high-tech washers are unable to deal with discarded chewing-gum, a problem that costs councils thousands of euros per year.
