INDIGNANT maestro Zubin Mehta has said he has no intention of returning to Valencia.

Nothing could induce him to back there until justice has been done for sacked Helga Schmidt “to her entire satisfaction,” the world famous conductor declared.

Schmidt, the former artistic director of the city’s Reina Sofia Opera House, was fired last month, accused of manipulating contracts and accepting commissions on the artists she engaged.

Her sacking was an “atrocity,” said Mehta, who was engaged by Schmidt and was main conductor at the Opera House until last year. Schmidt was ousted “without minimal proof of acting incorrectly,” Mehta maintained.
